William Carey International University in Partnership with The Center for Missiological Research at Fuller Theological Seminary Present a Joint Symposium
Since the late twentieth century, we have returned to a situation not seen since the end of the first millennium: There are more Christians outside Europe than within it. Today the continents with the most Christians are Africa and Latin America. "World Christianity" is both a fact and a field of study. In this symposium, we will engage with thought-leaders on world Christianity to discover what difference world Christianity makes to the US church and missions.

"Mission from the Perspective of World Christianity"
Kirsteen Kim, Ph.D. Paul E. Pierson Professor of World Christianity, Associate Dean, Center for Missiological Research, Fuller Theological Seminary
It used to be taken for granted that missionaries were white. But from a World Christianity perspective, mission is polycentric and multi-directional. What difference does this fact make to what we do in mission and how we think about it?
“Christianity in Multi-faith Contexts (Hindu and Islamic)”
Paul Cornelius, Ph.D. President, William Carey International University
Jose Abraham, Ph.D. Professor of Islamic Studies, School of Mission & Theology Fuller Theological Seminary
Interview Moderator, David H. Scott, Ph.D. Professor of Intercultural Studies and Children at Risk, Fuller Theological Seminary
Through history, the Christian faith has always sought to engage with the cultures and faiths it encountered. Today, as much as Christianity is a global faith, it is important to remember that other faiths are also global. It is not uncommon to rub shoulders especially in the West with neighbors from a different faith persuasion. As people move, faith and culture accompany them. How does the Church engage in a global multi-faith context?
“Silenced Yet Speaking: The Prophetic Voice of the Suffering Church”
Andrew Richards, Sr. Director of Partnerships, Open Doors
In this session participants will look three ways that being in relationship with the persecuted church around the world reframes our own discipleship to Jesus.
