Faith and Leadership Journeys of Inspiring Global Women

Episode 4: Rev. Dr. Lydia Mwaniki interviewed by Dr. Jewel Hyun

With an unquenchable zeal for education and “special energy” from above, Dr. Lydia Mwaniki pursued her theological training while giving birth to and nursing her children. Not even losing her chief supporter, her husband, to illness, ultimately stopped her from her doctoral studies in New Testament at the KwaZulu-natal University in S. Africa. The author of Gender & Imago Dei, she champions both women’s empowerment and men’s empowerment of women.

As gender equity gains increased awareness on a global scale, we need more voices to educate us from a Christian perspective. We now get to hear an African perspective as Dr. Jewel Hyun (Founder and President of Matthew 28 Ministries, Inc.) interviews Rev. Dr. Lydia Mwaniki (Director for Gender and Women of the All Africa Conference of Churches, the largest association of Protestant, Anglican, Orthodox and Indigenous churches  in Africa, representing more than 140 million Christians in 43 nations).
