Rev. Dr. Casely Essamuah
Rev. Dr. Casely Essamuah is Secretary of the Global Christian Forum which brings together leadership from all streams of world Christianity. This includes the full support of the four primary global church bodies, namely, the World Council of Churches, the World Evangelical Alliance, the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (Catholic Church), and the Pentecostal World Fellowship. Ordained in the Methodist Church, Ghana, he received his Th.D from Boston University School of Theology, M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School, and B.A. from the University of Ghana, Legon. He has studied and worked in Africa, Belgium, and the U.S. He has worked for 13 years as Global Missions and Outreach Pastor of the Bay Area Community Church in Annapolis, Maryland, and prior to that, in a similar role at Park Street Church, Boston. A reflective practitioner of his faith, he is a bi-cultural bridge builder straddling the spheres of the Global North and South, while working in missions, ecumenism, the church and the academy. A determined advocate for the growth of ecumenical trust, he embodies his belief that “each church is incomplete without the other parts of the body of Christ.” His books include “Genuinely Ghanaian: History of the Methodist Church Ghana, 1960-2000”, and “Communities of Faith in Africa and the African Diaspora: In Honor of Dr. Tite Tiénou with Additional Essays on World Christianity.”
