45 Years Later: A Tribute to Both Ralph and Roberta Winter

by Greg Parsons

When I think about the founding of WCIU, 45 years ago today, I think about both Ralph and Roberta Winter. I began to serve with the Winters in 1982, but from my first hearing of WCIU, it was clear that both Ralph and Roberta were the founders. Before and around the time of WCIU’s founding, Roberta had struggled with health issues. She had worked closely with Ralph during their ten years of teaching at Fuller Seminary. She helped grade papers. When he was traveling, she would teach his classes. Students loved her teaching, especially for the History lessons of the course, Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. She often includes great stories of real people with passion and purpose!

As a couple in involved in ministry for more than 20 years by 1977, they had learned the value of hearing the perspectives of both the husband and the wife. In their minds, one without the other could easily go off course.

Greg Parsons has been a board member at WCIU for many years. He is a long time staff member at Frontier Ventures dating back to the days of our original founder, Dr. Ralph D. Winter. Greg has had a front row seat to all of it, and we are grateful for his service at WCIU!
